The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has introduced New Regulations to tackle Unsolicited Commercial Communication.
TRAI has released the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2025, aimed at tightening measures against spam calls and messages while improving consumer protection. Some key changes include:
A more efficient spam reporting and complaint resolution process
Stricter penalties for entities violating the guidelines
Clearer classification of promotional, service, and transactional messages
Regulations around auto-dialers and robocalls
Stronger consumer control over marketing communications
With these amendments, TRAI is working towards a more secure and transparent telecom environment.
